01、选择哈罗，是因为A Level

“我在这里收获最大的，是朋友。” 回忆刚来到哈罗上海的那段日子，Perseus 仍记得那种轻松融入的感觉：“我从来没觉得格格不入，也没有因为是新生而被冷落。反而，大家好像早就决定要跟我做朋友一样。我们一起去图书馆复习、逛街、玩桌游，和朋友们相处的时光，轻松又愉快。”
谈起那段经历，Perseus仍对初来乍到时所感受到的温暖记忆犹新。对他来说，朋友不仅是学习旅途的同伴，更是哈罗社区的核心价值象征——“互助”。
05、鼓励“全员参与”的社区文化
哈罗上海为他提供了一个能够平衡学术与兴趣的平台。他加入了12年级乐队，在团队中担任钢琴手。学校鼓励“高度参与”的文化也让他印象深刻。
Perseus提到： “让我最惊讶、也最吸引我的，是老师们鼓励我们尽可能多地参加各种活动，包括音乐、体育、戏剧等。这不仅提升了我的沟通能力，更在组织团队的过程中培养了我的领导力。在规模更大的学校，要做到这样高的关注度和参与度是非常难得的。”

01、A purposeful transition:
Harrow and A Levels
Perseus joined Harrow Shanghai with a full AISL Harrow scholarship for two years based on his excellent academic performance and leadership. However, he found that the IB curriculum in his previous school didn’t allow him to fully develop his strengths in Maths and Science. The A Level pathway at Harrow Shanghai offered exactly what he needed: the opportunity to focus on 3–4 subjects he was both passionate about and strong in, with the added benefit of greater depth and academic rigour. For students like Perseus with strong subject-specific ability, it’s an ideal fit.
Perseus was awarded the 2024–25 Year 12 Academic Excellence Awards in Further Maths, Physics, and Chemistry.
Thank God that we game changed to the A level track, after a heated debate at home. After having the IGCSE results back with all A's and A*'s, we were contemplating whether to go the depth of his interested or keep the breath of the knowledge. With the academic support from all the teachers, not simply teaching the knowledge but also leading the curiosity minds. We know we make the right choice!

02、Rigours Academics
"A really outstanding characteristic here is that the teachers value understanding far more than simply getting the right answer to a given question," Perseus shares. This focus on the fundamentals helped him rediscover real enjoyment in Maths and Science. "Studying here is more like building something up from the foundations — teachers guide you to higher levels and encourage you to explore what lies ahead."
What surprised him most was how teachers regularly introduced a range of supercurricular materials — university-level books, articles and references. This exposure sparked his interest by revealing the beauty of the subject and helped him develop his knowledge to a deeper level, leading to a stronger understanding. After one year at Harrow Shanghai, Perseus was awarded Distinction in Round 2 of the British Mathematical Olympiad—a clear sign of how his ability to think deeply and build knowledge systematically has grown.

03、Personalised Attention in Small Classes
Compared with his previous school, Perseus found Harrow's small class sizes a game changer. "The small class sizes ensured attention, which helps build my confidence in all aspects," he says. Teachers track each student's progress in class and are also attentive to their emotional wellbeing through everyday conversations—offering timely support when needed. That attention goes far beyond the classroom. As part of the university counselling, teachers regularly share university resources with him, discuss application strategies, and recommend enrichment reading. This ongoing support has played a major role in both his academic progress and his preparation for university applications.
04、A Warm and Caring Community
"The best thing I've gained here is my friends." Perseus still recalls just how easy it was to feel at home during his first days at Harrow Shanghai. "I never felt out of place, and I was never left out just because I was new. In fact, it was like everyone had already decided to be my friend. We'd revise in the library, go shopping, or play board games together. It was just easy, relaxed and fun."
Even now, he still speaks fondly of that sense of warmth. For him, those friendships are more than a strong peer network, but the core value of the Harrow community — "Fellowship".
05、A Culture of Participation and Belonging
Harrow really brought to me an environment where studying perfectly merged with playing. He joined the Year 12 band as a pianist. What really stood out to him was the school's culture of active participation.
Perseus said, "Teachers really work towards encouraging students to participate in all activities, like music, sports, and drama which enhances my ability not just to communicate with others, but can also be a cradle of leadership when organising a team together. Such concentration and participation rate can be very hard to achieve with a larger school size."
Every year, many students choose to transfer to Harrow Shanghai for IGCSE or A Levels.
